Digital Signing
Sign a PDF before you pass it on: whoever checks it later sees that the file has not been changed since – and that you signed it. Signing needs an account.
- PKCS#7 · SHA-256
Sign in to sign
A signature is stored for good and, when checked, names who signed. That is why signing needs an account. Anyone can check, though, without signing in.
Check a document
Whether a file is still the signed one – or a genuine invoice from invoicing – you check on a page of its own, without an account.
How signing works
Where signing and checking happen
Signing happens on mahevi’s server, not in the browser – that is where the private key is. The signature is not inside the PDF itself: a PDF reader does not show it, and it can only be checked on the “Check signature” page. It is not a qualified electronic signature.
What is stored
When you sign, a copy of the signed PDF and its signature stay on the server, linked to your account – otherwise nothing could be checked later. How many signatures you can make per day is shown above the upload.
